“Most Lions are actually not “pretty”. Usually us photographers try and show the beauty of the Lions, but in truth, out in Africa, it is a battle to survive. This Male Lion shows the scars from years of fighting. The Wildlife Photographers in Africa choose the angles and subjects carefully, not to show the “ugly” lions, but these to me are some of the Lions with the most story’s to tell. They are the true survivors. This Lion had somewhat of a reputation as a fighter and warrior, till his death at the hands of a younger lion co-alition. We called him Mr.T, and he was a member of the Mapogo Co-alition in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. “
